I took three classes with Above Average Driving School but unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. The lessons were limited to driving on quiet country lanes with barely any traffic. Key skills like highway driving, merging, and using turn lanes were not covered at all. These are critical for building confidence in real-world driving, and I was disappointed they weren’t included in the instruction.
Mr. Calvin was an excellent teacher! I've just began driving but Mr. Calvin was really instrumental in helping me find those weak chinks in my armor that I could work on! Additionally, he was really passionate and I enjoyed learning from him. Definitely reccomend this school- above average is 100% confirmed.
Mrs.Tracy taught me not only about the driving basics but also many other things! these include car maintenance and all the driving rules you will ever need to know. Also, she found a way to make it fun and engaging. she did this by incorporating fun analogies and using different interesting stories.
Mrs. Tracy was an excellent teacher who taught me how to be a great, smart driver. Here are three of the many things I have learned during her sessions. 1. Vehicle Control & Safety 2. Traffic Laws & Signs 3. Defensive Driving Thank you so much, Mrs. Tracy, for teaching me everything I will need to know for my future driving endeavors!
I am not sure how the drivers are at this school, however, customer service is not good at the front desk. I left a voicemail today and did not get a call back as well as months ago. So I called back later today and the man who answered a phone, said that he did not see my phone number as leaving a voicemail. When I let him know that I did leave a voicemail and asked to speak to supervisor, he hung up on me. I must trust the company and driver, taking out my child to drive. If this is how customer service is, it is a bad reflection on the school and therefore I do not choose to use their services any longer. THE REPLY FROM THE SCHOOL BELOW JUST CONFIRMS WHY I HAVE GIVEN THIS SCHOOL A 1 STAR RATING. I HAVE ALREADY CHOSEN NOT TO USE THE SCHOOL AFTER THE RUDE PHONE CALL AND NOT RECEIVING CALL BACKS. I ALREADY HAVE AN APPT ELSEWHERE. I WISH THE SCHOOL TO RETRAIN THEIR STAFF AND AS I MENTIONED AM NOT INTERESTED IN THEIR SERVICES.

I very much enjoyed this class. Unlike most classes, this one was entertaining & i was able to stay up the whole time.
The class was absolutely amazing! The instructors were compassionate, knowledgeable, and very accepting of everyone. I highly recommend abide to everyone.
This is the only defensive driving class you should go to. Admittedly, I have had to go to quite a few driving classes over the years and this was the first time I've had a positive experience. Previous classes I've been to have been taught by old white men who have boring outdated PowerPoints and who couldn't care less about the people in the room. But Ms. Wendy, on the contrary, has an inherent ability to combine her knowledge of safety regulations and personal experiences to build empathy in the room. She is able to use the experiences of students attending the class to create a culture of accountability and desire to stay safe on the road. I believe the way she teaches this class is highly effective in creating long-lasting positive results. I would have never expected to say that about a driving class. While I hope to never have to return to driving class, I do recommend this one to anyone and everyone who has to take one.
Although this class wasn’t taken by choice, it was still pretty good and I learned/relearned a lot despite being an “experienced” driver. Ms. Wendy is a great and knowledgeable instructor who went out her way to make it all as pleasant as possible.
Ms. Wendy’s ABIDE class was very easy to follow, she’s a great instructor. The certificate given in class , I’m thankful for the opportunity I was given to take this class in order to get my citation dismissed .

You can get a mix of driving in different environments here, including the essential maneuvers for the driving test, community driving, and highway driving. The instructor is knowledgeable and patient.

I did the ten hour package and I had such an amazing experience! When I called to sign up no one picked up so I left a voice message. Becky quickly gave me a call back and was super friendly and helped me get my entire schedule set up. On day one I paid for my package and was all set to go. The first day I rode with Joe and he was so friendly and calm and patient, he had confidence in me so I had confidence in myself. We drove all around for two and half hours, he offered great advice, tips and tricks. Day 2-4 I drove with Trina who was the sweetest and funniest soul ever. She applauded me when I did well and advised me on things I needed to work on. Between the both of them, I can say I feel prepared to take my test, unfortunately it is not until June so I hope I don’t forget what they have taught me. I got on highways, and Trina made sure that I practiced three point turns several times. Update: I took the test and indeed passed
My daughter’s experience was amazing. She came home from her first driving session of drivers ed with Bobby and said he was the sweetest and calmest person ever. He made her feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel and was overall an incredible instructor!
a wonderful experience all around! very clear and efficient communications by email to set up lessons with Becky. I completed a two-lesson package with Lashana, who was incredibly kind, calm, and encouraging, from lessons to the day of my road test! she gave great tips and advice for driving in general and for the road test, and I felt a lot more comfortable on the road after my lessons with her.
Best Driving School in Triangle Area. Becky and her instructors especially Trina are amazing. Becky is very polite and respectful.
Absolutely recommend this driving school! I’ve only driven in an empty parking lot before but I would like to get my license now asap so I booked a 5h package. My instructor Lashana is super sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable. I was very stressed before the test but she comforted me a lot and was very supportive. I was able to pass the road test in one go after this 5h package. Becky who I had been emailing with to schedule lessons and renting car for road test day had been very responsive and I was able to rent the car when I got a road test appointment kinda last minute.

Two weekends in the classroom, three two-hour driving sessions, and BOOM! My 15-year-old daughter has her permit! She passed the DMV test on the first try. It’s sooooo much easier to skip the high school course with all of its hoops and just hire these pros instead. I’m very pleased! The best part is that by the time you go to the DMV to get the permit, both you and your kid will be fully prepared with the documents and knowledge required to walk out smiling!
Amazing driving experience with Mr. Philip, did a six hour package to feel more comfortable and confident with parking, city and interstate driving. Great corrections and tips, highly recommend Johnson Driving Academy!
Mrs.Johnson was very professional and thorough. She loves the kids like they are her own and wants them to succeed as much as the parents!! She also made sure the parents had everything they needed for DMV which was a huge help!!! This was a one of a kind experience and we are so thankful we used this company!!!
